I really enjoy this series (and K. M. Shea's writing in general) but I was particularly annoyed with Britt in this novel. The writing and storyline are wonderful as usual, and most of the characters are enjoyable to see, whether it's again or for the first time. The relationship between Britt and Merlin is equal parts frustrating, amusing, and wonderful. It's nice to see her settled into the world as King Arthur, but still maintaining a unique part of her 21st century personality. I also like that most of the characters just go along with her.My one problem with "Embittered" is Britt's stubbornness. She's essentially locking herself into relationships based on prejudices of events that haven't occurred. Namely, her callous treatment of Lancelot and overall disregard of Guinevere. She does eventually do right by Guinevere, which I'm glad for, and she does (/is forced to) grudgingly tolerate Lancelot. But in this time period she isn't married to Guinevere, and Guinevere hasn't slept with Lancelot. There's no actual reason for her to dislike them beyond the story she knows. She really could develop different relationships with them from the story. While this is addressed in the fourth book, it feels like a cop-out, and it's just brushed off. It's one of the few moments where I want someone to tell Britt "no."
Guinevere and Lancelot aren't particularly likeable characters, so I'm definitely not suggesting for Britt to become best buddies with either of them, but a little civility would go a long way. (Probably could have avoided the conflict of the fourth book.)

Embittered King Arthur and Her Knights eBook KM Shea Reviews
Just as I expected, this series never fails to suck me in. This book was finished within an hour. I love Britt and her knights so much. This time, Britt has to deal with two people she hates just based on Authurian lore Lancelot and Guinevere. Britt also grows a bit realizing that compromises must be made.
I like that the romance is going slowly because I dont want it to become the focus and take over the plot. The growing feelings between Britt and Merlin is awfully cute. I love how much they grow as friends before starting any sort of love relatonship.
As for the new characters, Lancelot is not exactly what I expected him to be. He will most likely be in the plot more in the next book. Even Guinevere ended up to be tolerable. My only complaint is that these books are too short! I want more Britt! more Merlin and the knights! *sigh now ill have to reread all the previous books while i wait for book #4.
The third in the series of "King Arthur and Her Knights" followed the same format as the previous ones, showing snippets of Britt's life as King Arthur. There are many moments that are fun to read and see her grow into the legend. However, I was disappointed that so much of the story was left out, and how the story ended.
**SOME MILD SPOILERS AHEAD**
Britt has an unnatural hatred for Lancelot, which really seems out of character for her from what we've seen in the previous scenarios. It almost gets to the point where you'd rather just skip over the parts of her abusing him to get to something more exciting because it happens so much. She turns from a person growing into a good king, and becomes nothing more than a bully to someone who has done absolutely nothing to her.
The flirty moments between Merlin and Britt are definitely favorites, and I wish there were more of them. The story leaves the Merlin/Britt storyline unfulfilled, which is not only frustrating, but annoying. The author's note at the end of the book implied that this was the last of the series, which ends on a major cliffhanger and a budding romance. Some people would say that's just cruel. I hope she continues the series! Even though this was far from a favorite book, I overall enjoyed it as a beach-read, and would be interested in completing the story.
Alright, so first off, this book was great! If you liked the first two, then this one will be a winner as well. It is still a light-hearted, funny tale of Britt and her knights.
The only thing I had a problem with was the length. It seemed like I finished it in no time. It may have just been me, because I've been waiting on pins and needles for this book for a while, but I was hoping for something longer. Also, this isn't the last book in the series. It has a very open ending. Just FYI. At least, it HOPE it isn't the last book. There are a lot of issues left unanswered.
Also, there were a few typos, unwieldy sentences, things like that. It didn't bother me one bit, but I know some people are really ticky about things like that, so I thought I'd mention it.
Spoilers below*************
Okay, so Lancelot AND Guinevere show up in this book. Britt ends up saving G, despite her dislike of the shallow, flightly girl. Lancelot ends up tagging along with Britt for most of the book and seems like a rather oblivious likable fellow until the ending. The author shows a private conversation between Lancelot and his friends that was very...odd. Very out of character for Lancelot, so its looking like he has hidden depths, and that it won't be in Britt's favor. I already wasn't very fond of Lancelot, and was cheering Britt on every time she dissed him, so after that ominous ending, I REALLY hope she gives him the boot.
And this is off topic, but there are very brief hints of a budding romance between Britt and Merlin. In case you were cheering for that. Which I definitely AM. Although I don't have any idea how that would work within the story frame. Honestly, I don't care. Go Britt and Merlin! ;-)
END SPOILERS********
SO! Overall, I loved it, and I recommend it. Of course, start with the first two, because they are fabulous and while this book refreshes a little bit from the previous books, you will be able to keep up a lot better if you're already familiar with the characters. Good job!
